Wheat Stocks Up 48%
Posted Jun 30, 2010 at 10:27am by Bill SpiegelIn its monthly Grain Stocks report, the National Agricultural Statistics Service indicates that wheat stocks - or all wheat stored on- or off-farm - are up 48% from a year ago, totaling 973 million bushels.
In comparison, corn stocks are up just 1% and soybeans, down 4%, from a year ago.
Of-farm stocks of wheat are estimated at 210 million bushels; off-farm stocks, 763 million bushels. Disappearance from March to May, 2010, is 383 million bushels, down a little bit from a year ago.
Corn stocks total 4.31 billion bushels, but disappearnance from March to May is 3.38 billion bushels, compared with 2.69 billion bushels a year ago.
Soybean stocks total 571 million bushels; disappearance from March to May is 699 million bushels, down slightly from a year ago.
